John Roades

John Roades established the law firm in 1977. He was born in El Campo, Texas, and has been an attorney in Wharton County, practicing throughout the Gulf Coast area for over 30 years.

After obtaining undergraduate degrees from Wharton County Junior College and the University of Texas, he received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He served an internship with the Longview firm of Adams & Sheppard and later was an associate with Manske & Hajovsky in El Campo, Texas.

In 1980, John was elected County Attorney of Wharton County, representing the County in civil matters and prosecuting both misdemeanor and felony cases.

In 1983, he was appointed District Attorney of the 23rd Judicial District of Texas, which included Matagorda and Wharton Counties.

Mr. Roades has gained a statewide reputation for competent leadership. He has served as Chair of the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of Texas, which represents the interests and advocates on behalf of over 60% of the attorneys in the State of Texas.

Mr. Roades has been included as a member in the College of The State Bar of Texas for many years, in recognition of his dedication to continuing legal education.

He has served as a frequent speaker on a variety of legal topics and has taught several legal and business subjects as an adjunct faculty member at Wharton County Junior college.

Mr. Roades was awarded the Private Attorney Involvement Award by Gulf Coast Legal Foundation in recognition of his time devoted to providing legal services to low income residents of the Houston area. Among many other activities, he has served as an officer of the WCJC Foundation Board, the Mrs. G. R. Hawes Foundation, Lions Club, Methodist Church, the Democratic Party, the Men’s Civil League, and Richmond State School Advisory Committee. Presently, Mr. Roades serves on the Board of the Plaza Theatre, Inc. And the Wharton Cemetery Association. Married for 25 years, Mr. Roades and his wife, the former Therese Pavlas, have two daughters.

Charles Roades - Of Counsel to the Firm

Charles Roades became Of Counsel to the firm in 1997. He was born in Wharton, Texas, and has been an attorney for 25 years. He earned his BA from the University of Texas and his JD from South Texas College of Law. He prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony cases for many years in Tom Green and Midland Counties, Texas, and served as an Assistant Attorney General. He has earned a reputation of thorough preparation and zealous representation of his clients.
